The Saffron Indian Restaurant makes a good first impression. The dining area is well lit, the tables are covered with real tablecloths, and the napkins are also made of cloth. The walls have Indian motifs, and instrumental Indian music plays softly in the background.
Crispy papadum is served with green cilantro sauce and a sweet tamarind sauce.
The lamb korma is a Muglai specialty consisting of tender chunks of lamb in a sauce containing creamed cashew nuts. This was a very tasty dish, and one of the best curries that I have had in the Washington area.
Garlic naan is a soft bread that provides a good accompaniment for the tasty curries.
Nalli Gosht is a braised lamb shank with a sauce containing a blend of spices, yogurt, ginger, garlic and a hint of saffron.
The Saffron Indian restaurant provided a delightful dining experience. The waiters were very attentive and offered a second helping of rice. The food was very well prepared and certainly ranks high compared to other Indian restaurants.
