I suspect that the significant weight gain for soda and fries, and their combined effect are likely due to the hepatotoxicity of both polyunsaturated fat and fructose leading to both insulin and leptin resistance... and therefore destroying the bodies natural "lipostasis" system. Perhaps there is even a synergistic effect, where neither PUFA or fructose are nearly as toxic as their combination. Obesity often co-occurs with NAFLD. I doubt that "simple [starch] carbohydrates" play any role here at all... there's many traditional cultures (such at the Kitavans) whose diet consists largely of starchy root vegetables yet have virtually no obesity. Notice how "potatoes all" is significantly lower than potato chips and fries... likely because this group contains both potatoes fried in polyunsaturated fat (strongly obesogenic) and potatoes that are not (non obesogenic). As an epidemiological study this (1) doesn't determine cause and effect, and (2) doesn't isolate individual ingredients.

Nice article. I don't have a problem with anyone saying that don't believe in something that can't be proven... if I did that would point to a problem within myself not outside of myself. Clairvoyance is utilized in the act of remote viewing but they are not one and the same. Similar to how telepathy could manifest via clairaudience or clairsentience. I have read many remote viewing readings and many also will pick up things with their clairsentience.

Take a new look at autophagy and protein. For humans over 60 the evidence for increased health and lifespan seem evident from yeast, fly, and animal studies.

Wolfe RR has a slim (at best) body of work that speaks for itself. Very small studies on 10 or 12 people who are young for very short time periods with known results that protein increases water retention in muscle is JUNK science in my opinion.

Hi Mr. Z! Just thought I'd give this site a shot and I'm practicing the peacock posture (under your fitness tab). Oh my! My poor nose! You're right about strength. You need strong biceps, triceps and an extremely strong back. I workout like a madman during the winter through summer (the off season for football) and I can't even do that! Must keep trying. I'll let you know if I get it.

I was shocked to find acesulfame K in Wrigley's and sent them an e-mail, not only objecting but telling them I would no longer buy their products until they removed this ingredient. I did find a few packages of gum without acesulfame K: Adam's clove, Beeman's, and Teaberry. Of course, the sweet taste disappears very quickly. Greed is always at the bottom of everything. The sweet taste lasts with Wrigley's and they'll sell it.

Cherry's comment describes the typical dichotomy between the "spiritual" and "real" that must be considered in trying to prove or disprove something in a scientific way. Since science does not recognize the existence of "afterlife" or "soul", there cannot be any meaningful scientific dialogue about these concepts or their implications.

Well this is the most interesting site in the context of the metaphysical and learning about it through objective study. Nothing wrong with that. But I do object that paranormal activity or experiences are nothing more then fantasies. Many real and documented studies and videotape evidence has been objectively studied and verified from a scientific point of view. And although it is most challenge to quantify data based on psychic ability or paranormal phenomenon (real or imagined), there is enough empirical data to support that in many cases (not all) there is no scientific explanation or objective data to quantify an experience and make it valid in scientific terms. Still doesn’t mean it’s not real. Just not verifiable to those who need scientific data to prove the existence of that which eludes them.

If we had proof of the infinite then there would be no need to search for the Truth during our brief journey in the physical world. The quest for truth is a part of life itself and by that we find the meaning of life as well as the afterlife. The two are intimately intermingled, what limits our perception of it can be explained by virtue of the limitations of the physical body itself. Overcoming physical reality as it merges with spiritual attainment is the never-ending purpose of the human soul.
